In arrivo “Magical” sette CD con brani in studio e live

Sarà disponibile dal 10 novembre “Magical”, un cofanetto in edizione limitata da sette dischi contenente materiale di Greg Lake scomparso nel 2016 all’età di 69 anni. Il box raccoglie il materiale solista in studio e dal vivo del musicista ma anche quello con King Crimson, Emerson Lake & Palmer ed Emerson, Lake & Powell e alle collaborazioni con Toto, Gary Moore, Asia, Geoff Downes, Keith Emerson e altri musicisti.

Il cofanetto vede il coinvolgimento della sua famiglia, che ha aperto il proprio archivio per consentire l’inclusione di materiale raro.

“Sebbene sia forse meglio conosciuto come cantante, paroliere, compositore, bassista, chitarrista e produttore di una delle band più significative e più vendute degli anni ’70, gli Emerson, Lake & Palmer, Greg Lake era un cantautore molto rispettato che ha pubblicato materiale solista e non in quattro decenni.” Così è scritto sul comunicato che accompagna il lavoro antologico. “Era inoltre – prosegue – un musicista molto richiesto che ha suonato con Who, Ringo Starr e Trans-Siberian Orchestra”. Oltre ai sette CD “Magical” contiene un libro di 64 pagine con ampie note per ogni album insieme a foto inedite dall’archivio della famiglia Lake e a note di copertina di Jerry Ewing, editore di Prog Magazine, che ha parlato con molti collaboratori di Lake.

“Magical” presenta i due album solisti di Lake, compreso il suo debutto con Gary Moore. Ci sono due album dal vivo, tra cui “Songs of a Lifetime” in cui Lake propone cover di Beatles ed Elvis Presley, nonché una versione di “People Get Ready” degli Impressions di Curtis Mayfield. Vi sono brani rari e registrazioni dal vivo, tra cui quella di Piacenza, e quella di quando i King Crimson supportarono i Rolling Stones al concerto ad Hyde Park nel 1968, tre performance inedite registrate nei primi anni ’80 con i Toto, insieme a canzoni del suo periodo con gli Asia, Emerson Lake & Palmer, la Greg Lake Band, “Ride the Tiger” di Lake con Geoff Downes.” .
